Volcano is one the small towns of today which was booming during the Gold Rush.

Today local residents are intent on preserving its heritage…first in California to have a public library, Literary Debate Society, Astronomical Observatory, and first “little theatre” movement.

Volcano is home to the St. George Hotel and Restaurant, Black Chasm Historic Caverns, Indian Grinding Rock State Historic Park and world famous Daffodil Hill.
